The pictorial art of bringing light into ancient texts through the application of gold leaf, illumination has its roots in the very heart of the Middle Ages. The illuminator demonstrates an ancestral know-how in which the precise, meticulous gesture is of paramount importance.

Matériau traditionnel de l’enlumineur, le parchemin impose ses caractéristiques à l’œuvre — coloris et irrégularités propres à chaque épiderme, jeu de la peau suivant l’humidité ambiante, etc. —, et la rend ainsi unique.
Le parchemin est issu de l’industrie agro-alimentaire. De vulgaire déchet, en passe d’être mis au rebus, il est revalorisé et devient ainsi un matériau luxueux.
The traditional material of the illuminator, parchment imposes its own characteristics on the work – colors and irregularities specific to each epidermis, the play of the skin according to ambient humidity, etc. -making it unique.
Parchment comes from the food industry. It has gone from being a common waste product, on the verge of being discarded, to being recycled and transformed into a luxurious material.
